Thousands of Muslims under the banner of TamilNadu Muslim Mun netra Kazhagam were arrested when they attempted to proceed on a procession for picketing the residence of AIADMK General Secretary J. Jayalalithaa. The picketing agitation was organized to protest Ms. Jayalalithaa’s slanderous remarks against Senior IAS officer and Principal Secretary of Chief Minister Mr. Syed Munir Hoda.

Ms. Jayalalithaa recently had remarked that Mr. Munir Hoda had secretly helped Abdul Nassar Madhani escape from prison and this was the reason for suspending him. Ms. Jayalalithaa had also arrogantly remarked that Mr. Munir Hoda is an anti national who deserves to be dismissed from service.

TamilNadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam organized the picketing programme to denounce the blatant lies and slanderous remarks which have been made against an upright officer belonging to the minority community who has put in more 30 years of unblemished service to the country.

The charges of Ms. Jayalalitha are utterly false. The fact is that the charge against Mr. Munir Hoda is for agreeing to provide medical treatment to Madhani in Chennai in an affidavit filed in the High Court of Madras. Ms. Jayalalithaa as is her nature, conveniently forgets that the affidavit in the High Court was filed by the Deputy Secretary Home, Mr. Kirubakaran after obtaining the consent of Additional Director General of Police, SIT, DGP, Law Secretary, Public Prosecutor and Addl. Govt. Pleader. This was a collective decision for which only one individual is being targeted by Ms. Jayalalithaa. After filing the affidavit the file was marked to then Chief Minister for information as filling of affidavits in High Court does not require approval of Minister or Chief Minister as per Secretariat Business Rules.

This collective action prevented Madhani from going from TamilNadu to Kerala and protected the interest of the State in an urgent matter which came up before the Courts and reply had to be given to the Courts in less than two days. Ms. Jayalalithaa clearly does not read her files and now she has come up with a story that Madhani was about to escape. Are the State of TamilNadu and its Police Force under her regime so incompetent as to not provide adequate police bandobust to bring a physically handicapped and sick prisoner to Chennai for treatment? Has Ms. Jayalalithaa forgoetten that during her tenure itself Madhani was taken to Royapettah General Hospital, Chennai, Salem General Hospital and to hospitals in Coimbatore for treatment without any problem whatsoever? Madhani was taken to these places on orders of Superintendent of Prisions as empowered in the Jail Manual.

The suspension orders served on Mr. Munir Hoda by the Jayalalithaa led government was revoked by Presidential orders. However she refused to comply with the orders of the Government which was issued in the name of President of India. This conduct of Ms. Jayalalithaa speaks volumes about her vindictiveness, her contempt for higher authorities and her arrogance.

Ms. Jayalalitha is upset that an upright officer belonging to the Minority community is occupying an important position in the present DMK Government. She is also upset that the DMK Government led by Kalaingar is swift in implementing all electoral promises and development activities.

Ms. Jayaalithaa’s remarks has once again revealed her anti minority sentiments and her opposition to Minority empowerment. By stating Mr. Munir Hoda is an anti national Ms. Jayalalithaa has only thrown stone sitting from a glass house. Ms. Jayalaithaa and her friends have been booked for various offences which are detrimental to the interest of the Nation.

TamilNadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam organized this agitation under the leadership of General Secretary S. Hyder Ali. TMMK demands that Jayalalitaa should apologise to the nation for her arrogant, irresponsible remarks.
